Delhi gets choked

National Capital New Delhi got choked on Sunday, due to heavy smog caused due to air pollution. Pollution levels peaked in Delhi as AQI Levels reached up to 999 on Sunday according to DD News.

Delhi & adjoining districts of UP, Punjab and Haryana recorded dangerous levels of pollution. Authorities have already shut schools, banned construction activities and declared a ‘public health emergency’ and advised people to stay Indoors.

Delhi Chief Minister blamed the neighboring states for the pollution, as he referred stubble burning in the states of Punjab & Haryana were the major cause for this hazardous situation in Delhi & NCR, and there was no mistake from the Delhiites. Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh urged the Central govt to intervene at a faster rate.

People vented their frustration on social media as some said they wanted to leave the city due to pollution and some called for the government to rectify the situation at the earliest.
